Anyone familiar with SEMA (and we’re guessing that’s the majority of you since the 2012 show just took place in Las Vegas) will know that the show annually boasts the best and usually brightest examples of the automotive tuning world has to offer.
Some examples make you weep with joy. Others make you clutch your children close to shield their eyes.
This Ford Mustang – and we’re sure you have your own views which side of the fence its lies – was present at the 2010 edition of SEMA (okay, Specialty Equipment Market Association show), and casting just a casual eye over the proceedings should explain why.
The distinctive Grabba Blue paint finish is a bit of a giveaway, as is the enormous hood scoop which, believe it or not, actually journeys through to a ‘standard’ Mustang 4.6-litre V8 and six-speed transmission. Well, this is a show car, as the sole 6000 clicks on the clock attest.
That’s small game though compared to the massive – MASSIVE – Asanti alloys, which are 24-inch at the front and 26-inch at the rear. You’ll rarely find anything that big outside of an Airbus, and we imagine it handles like one too.
You may imagine, given the extravagance on the outside, that the inside would be similarly spec-ed. And you’d be wrong. Yes, there are a couple of carbon inlays here and there (courtesy of Lexani) but generally you’ll find the same retro feel you would in a normal Mustang.
Quite what this example (currently housed at Living Classics in Dubai’s Al Quoz region) would be like to live with on a daily basis is a mystery, aside from the sun being blotted out through the windscreen of course. You could find out though, since rumour has it this SEMA-ed Mustang is up for sale.
