Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal
Saudi Falcons Team Schubert – #24 BMW Z4 GT3
“We’re ready, we’re always prepared, and hopefully we can perform. I’m looking forward to the race.
“I’ve driven the BMW throughout the year in Europe, but it takes some adjustments after spending so much time with the Porsche GT3. The BMW is much faster, the aero kit is different, but you just need four laps to get a good rhythm and to start pushing a little harder.
“Definitely we want to win the race. Pole position at a 24hrs race is not all that important. We know that we have a strong car and strong line-up, so we’ll see. We’ll just go out and what we do best.”
Sean Edwards
Team Abu Dhabi by Black Falcons – #1 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3
“It’s been a busy two nights for the team [following issues in practice], but the guys have done an amazing job. The fact that we could put the car on pole…I didn’t think we could do that, didn’t think the car would be in good enough shape. But all credit to the guys.
“It’s going to be a really tough race. It’s going to be flat out and we’ve just got to stay out of the pits. Keep the pace up on-track, and see where we are after 16/18 hours. It’ll probably flat out to the end.
“Last year neither Jerome, Thomas [Jager] nor I slept during the race. You can’t double stint here since we’ve got three pro drivers in the car, so we have to be ready within an hour. There’s no chance to rest, but we enjoy it, especially if we win!”
Darren Turner
Craft Racing AMR – #15 Aston Martin Vantage GT3
“This is the first time I’ve done the Dubai 24hrs, but I’ve done plenty of endurance races before. Normally the first event of the year is Daytona if you get a drive there, but this is definitely a good way to work off the Christmas turkey!
“It’s gone very well so far, and it’s nice to be towards the front of the grid. Let’s hope we can keep the Aston Martin there.
“If I’d done the race before I might have a more realistic goal(!), but we’ve all got a lot to learn from this event. If we can make the finish, that would be great but if we could make the top ten we’d be very pleased with that.”
