“Having said that, I think after seven hours, we’d built up an hour-lead in-class, which was great! Then we had a gearbox failure and the multitude of issues that come with that, which cost us five hours. We then just pushed during the night, and it was absolute pandemonium! GT3 cars in the hands of pro and amateur drivers, meaning they’re a lot quicker but may not necessarily know the circuit, which can lead to problems.

“One major problem, we had to do an engine change on Thursday, so none of us got much practice in. I had a coming together during one of the night stints, so my heart skipped a beat! I couldn’t see the damage until I got back, but it turned out okay. We’ve also had a fueling issue – possibly caused by the coming together – so we had to reset the ECU. During my third stint, the engine kept cutting out.

“We’re currently lying second in class, and if things go to plan we’ll finish there too. We’re still going full guts!”
