The new 573hp Aston Martin V12 Vantage S – the second most powerful on the company’s books – makes its regional debut at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show.
[Not a valid template]Aston Martin has unveiled the second fastest road-going model ever produced on the first day of the 2013 Dubai Motor Show.
The new V12 Vantage S, a replacement to the outgoing 2008MY iteration, is equipped with Aston Martin’s 6.0-litre V12 and produces 573hp and 420lb ft of torque: only the hyper exclusive One-77 chucks out more at 750hp. To further low end performance, up to 376lb ft of torque is available between at 1000rpm for faster response under heavy acceleration. Though the new Aston Martin Vantage’s 0-100kph time has yet to be confirmed, top speed is an impressive 330kph.
Race car technology is also indicative of the new V12 Vantage S. Aston Martin’s new Sportshift III seven-speed AMT transmission – which is also available on the V8 Vantage S – produces faster shifts than the preceding system and is 25kh lighter. Hollow camshafts and CNC machined combustion chambers have been derived directly from Aston Martin Racing’s Vantage GT4, while new three-stage adaptive damping meanwhile (a first for the Vantage range) allows the driver to tailor his or her driving style, be it Normal, Sport or Track. The V12’s new exhaust system has been taken directly from the One-77 hypercar.
Aesthetic nods to the V12 Vantage S’ performance include aggressively designed air inlets in the bonnet, a black painted roof and exterior graphics, flared wheel arches and new lightweight ten-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, lightweight sport seats continue the performance motif.
The new V12 Vantage S signs off Aston Martin’s centenary year celebrations, which began last year when a brand new Vanquish was helicoptered to the top of Dubai’s Burj Al Arab.
