2014 marks the ninth running of the Dunlop 24 hours of Dubai held at the Dubai Autodrome on the 9th -11th January
This coming weekend sees the biggest endurance race in the Middle East take centre stage at the Dubai Autodrome. This will be the ninth running of the Dunlop 24 hours of Dubai and the first international endurance race of the new year. With a total of 80 cars expected to line up on the grid for the 2pm Friday start, over 300 drivers of 40 different nationalities and teams from 18 countries, it is a massive mix of GT cars, Touring cars and 24hr Specials battling it out.
Team Abu Dhabi by Black Falcon, the winners of the Dubai 24hrs for the last two years, will be out trying for a hat trick – with their pair of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 cars – however, as if racing throughout the day, all night and halfway through the next day isn’t tough enough, there could be an extra element to contend with this year. This week has already seen heavy rainfall in Dubai and is a distinct possibility for Friday.
crankandpiston.com will be on the ground and have already started stocking up on Red Bull and chocolate digestives to see us through this endurance race. We also might pack raincoats just to be safe.
