Welcome to the Jaguar C-X16 Production Concept. We think it is more than fair to say how refreshing it is to see a company, that for so long was hampered by purse strings and internal conflict (Aston Martin), beginning to properly stretch its legs and bloom on the main stage.
Designed by the same team that produced the stunning Jaguar XJ (admit it, it’s growing on you know), XF and XK – headed by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum – the C-X16 concept is being pitched as a precursor to future Jaguar sports cars that will aim to set new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology.
We all have our fingers tightly crossed that the image above is a firm shot at what the final production version will be as Jaguar have a lot to live up to since sister company Land Rover launched the Range Rover Evoque. Proof if you need it, that concepts can become reality without to much added water.
Sadly you are going to have to wait until the 7th September for more juicy details and then it will be revealed in full at the Frankfurt motorshow… Stand by >>>

Force 10
I hope it’s really light, compact and just a touch raw while staying true to the form above.
The proportions look spot on (the rear arch is particularly interesting since it seems to rise a little ‘early’, which somehow gives the overall shape flow but using a bit of modern edginess in terms of the curvature).
Overall it seems as if they’ve finally gotten out of the experimental phase with the new design language and into a mode of confidence by means of having found just the right balance between historical reference and modern edge – especially in the front and rear lights, which have been just a tiny bit too fussy in recent Jags (something which I have always assumed has to do with the designers probing the limits of the new design language).

Let’s hope so… we will be sure to let you know as soon as we get all the news.
