When the Porsche GT2RS did 6:46.3 at the Nordschleife, we were blown away. But 06:44.97? Damn.
Lamborghini went full-power on this one with the upcoming hardcore version of the Aventador, to be name the SV Jota. With official Lamborghini driver Marco Mapelli behind the wheel, Lamborghini was able to tackle the 20.6 km track and have the record fully documented with GPS trackers and cameras all over, and proper scrutineering to ensure the vehicle is running fit and the record is actual.
“This is another demonstration of the exceptional skills and teamwork by the dedicated personnel within Automobili Lamborghini: from the R&D team, as well as from our test drivers and, of course, partners such as Pirelli,” adds Chief Technical Officer, Maurizio Reggiani.
The Aventador SVJ will be lighter and more powerful than any other aventador, giving a weight-to-power ratio of only 1,98 kg/hp. The ALA 2.0 system has been implemented in the SVJ, to carry on the technology since we last saw it in the Huracan Performante.
More information quoted from Lamborghini regarding the setup of the car:
“The set-up of the Aventador SVJ has been entirely re-engineered to enhance its four-wheel drive system, rear-wheel steering and ESC. Significantly stiffer than the Aventador LP 750-4 SV, the steering has been retuned in the SVJ. The Aventador SVJ features a new specifically-developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires as standard. For the lap-time attempt the optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires were mounted.”
