Stand by… Red Bull have been at it again!  Most of you will know that F1 fever recently spread through the UAE and the wider region with the circus rolling into Abu Dhabi for the Yas Marina Grand Prix. Red Bull, in their own very unique style, got into the occasion by putting on a killer competition for local students – The Red Bull Racing Can finale. The event, which is a unique contest combining technology, engineering, creativity and competition for motoring enthusiasts of all levels takes the very creative angle of using the Red Bull can itself as the ultimate design element. Sounds cool huh?

With 16 teams from four local universities the competition was high. They all designed and built their model cars (including the car of course) with the aim of a head to head race at the Yasalam entertainment district on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. To ensure fair play, the chassis of each car was identical, with students focusing instead on aerodynamic features and creative design.

In front of 800 spectators, AUS team, Hossam and Maged Shoman, who were representing American University of Sharjah (AUS), were dominant, as they made their way to the victory circle, by eliminating rivals through 3 rounds with their impeccable driving skills and unique car design. Following the win, Hossam Shoman was understandly excited about the prize… the opportunity to compete at the World Finals at Red Bull Racing’s head quarters, in the UK.

Thankfully the team at Red Bull had a camera on hand so that you can see the action along with the fun and games they got up to.
