Some of our more established readers may have noticed a few changes to crankandpiston.com since the beginning of the year. Our dedicated team has been growing as of late and daily content has been increasing as we further establish crankandpiston on the international automotive map. There have been some changes, and we hope you all think for the better. This is something well out of left field though.
This is a Harley Davidson Softail Slim, and it’s one of the first new bikes for 2012 the American giant has released. A ‘first’ anything – even a ride – is usually enough to spark our interest. But you’re probably wondering why we’ve chosen to bring you this? Well…
Firstly, it’s a Harley. Whether you’re a bike person or not, the name itself is enough to evoke a reaction. One of the biking world’s heavy hitters has been running strong for well over a hundred years, and in all that time it’s remained strong to its routes, despite several financial black periods. Each bike is a highway cruiser. An individual entity. A statement. Accordingly, motorbike enthusiasts are rarely either/or when it comes to Harleys. And for crankandpiston at this point, that’s ideal.
One word sums up the Softail’s looks: presence. The front is unquestionably retro, down to the raw Vivid Black finish and no-nonsense Laced Steel wheels: cake the bike in dust then throw a glance at the ‘Harleywood’ crossbar handlebars, and you’d be forgiven for thinking the Softail had fallen straight out of the 1940s.
