Felix Baumgartner wasn’t the only Red Bull athlete caught in a spin before landing the big one. But while the Austrian was busy becoming the first freefaller to break the speed of sound (which included a hair-raising spin at 1342kph from not thought he’d come back from), Jordan’s Mohammed Al-Kukhun was busy winning the laurels by burning rubber in the Dead Sea.

And passion for the sport.
As ever on the Red Bull Car Park Drift circuit, it wasn’t just about the performance of the car that would win you the grand prize. Perfecting your drift is one thing, but if the look or sound of the car couldn’t get crowd jumping, then a competitor found themselves in a big hole.
New crankandpiston playmate AmmaniV12 was keen to find out what life was like in the paddock, and having managed to wangle a ticket, that gave him plenty of time to savour the action, and the intensity.
Having ventured into the paddock to check out pre-event preparation…
…and pleased his genial hosts for the evening…
…the crankandpiston lens was pointed in the direction of Muath Al Essa’s BMW M3, run by the Saudi Team. We hear Al Essa is quite a fan of Mr Feghali.
Local Jordanian drifting Champion Ra’fat Haround’s BMW E36 keeps us on the M3 theme. The Jordanian drifting champion had some hurdles to cross before the event even got underway, his M3 specifically built for the Car Park Drift in just 40 days.
