A $2 million Lamborghini Reventon Roadster, a track favourite Ducati 1098, and a 580hp-tuned Nissan GT-R go head-to-head on a 4km runway with the boys at The BHP Project. Let tyre squeal and battle commence.
As top three shootouts across a four-kilometre runway go, this one takes some beating. Heading the field, we have one of only 15Lamborghini Reventon Roadsters produced, boasting a 650hp 6.5-litre V12, a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.3s, a top speed of 356kph (recorded by the by in Dubai), and a gut wrenching $2 million price tag.
Lining up next to it we have a Nissan GT-R. Small-fry by comparison true, given its much smaller 3.8-litre V6 and top speed almost 60kph slower than the Lambo. But given that this Nissan has a 580bhp-tuned monster lurking beneath the bonnet and 2013-spec launch control, this might be closer than expected.
Lastly, we have the dark horse: a Ducati 1098. Given the enormous weight difference and its incomparable agility, plus its 160hp v-twin four-cylinder engine, up against lesser opponents this would be a walk over for the Italian stallion.
But as you can see in these three races, predictions very quickly go out the window…
