RKM Auctions is selling North America’s first Bugatti Veyron at a sale event in Abu Dhabi next month.
[Not a valid template]Back in 2006, Bugatti brought the production ready Veyron to North America – potentially its biggest market – for the very first time. And this is that very car, the same machine that did the motor show tour across the country and ended up in the famous Peterson Automotive Museum in California. This Bugatti‘s got only 100 miles on the clock, and now it’s up for sale – the most exclusive example of an already vary rare landmark car. The 1006bhp Veyron is one of dozens of amazing machines being sold through an auction event held by US firm RKM at the Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, November 2.
The Veyron story dates back to 1998, when the Volkswagen Group bought the trademark rights to the then-defunct Bugatti name with the idea of reviving the brand. Various concept cars were then presented at motor shows, and the Veyron made its first appearance in design study form at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1999. Back then, it featured a three-bank W18 engine, rather than the two-bank W16 the production car ended up with. Named after Bugatti development engineer, test and race driver Pierre Veyron, the joint winner of the 1939 24 Hours of LeMans, the car was cleared to go into production in 2001, but the development was a troubled one, and it wasn’t until September 2005 that production actually began.
Since then, the Bugatti Veyron has undoubtedly secured its place in history, becoming a byword for power and performance. Oh, and expense – the Veyron is not a cheap car, so the guide price for this car at auction – $1.2 million to $1.4 million – seems pretty good value for money for such a rare example. The car is assembly line new and had a complete factory service earlier this year.
