Hennessey Venom GT gets a new Americana paint finish and a new special edition model, the ‘World’s Fastest Edition’.
At first glance, given the Venom GT ‘World’s Fastest Edition’ moniker, you’d think that Hennessey has outdone itself once again and produced a model even faster than its current Guinness World Record holder. And you’d be wrong.
The ‘World’s Fastest Edition’ is in fact one of only three limited edition models to have been produced by Hennessey to celebrate its recent record breaking run. The Venom GT now holds the Guinness World Record for 0-300kph standing start acceleration, having hit 300kph off the line in an eye watering 13.63 seconds. Thankfully the new limited edition comes with the same fiery, kidney rupturing 7.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the record holder, and produces the same 1244bhp (a terrifying 1bhp/kg weight-ratio) and more than 1155lb ft of torque. Plus a spiffy new red, white and blue paint finish in deference to Hennessey’s US of A base of operations.
If you were hoping to rip Hennessey’s record to shreds though, there are a couple of problems. Firstly, we’ve heard that renting the NASA Kennedy Space Center runway – where the record-breaking run was set – for a few weeks of development and preparation can prove a tad expensive. Also, each of the $1.25 million models has already been earmarked.
