I really like this car. I mean, really like it! I’m not entirely sure why I’m enjoying my time behind the wheel (when I can steal the keys from Tom) as much as I am, as it’s not as dynamic to drive as its fellow stable mate, the GTi. It’s not got that aural pleasure from the exhaust that I so like from a car either. So what is it?
If I’m being honest a lot has to do with the way it looks and the package as a whole. In a world of continually bland mid sector saloon cars, the sumptuous Coupe really does stand out in the crowd. Not only that, but the R-Line kit means that VW have taken their most stylish car and injected a healthy helping of fun, giving the CC a whole new attitude. Which it most definitely suits I might add.
No it’s not as much fun as a GTi but the handling is very fluid and refinement levels are impressive. There’s seating for four, a big luggage area (so much so I could get my race gear, photography gear and our camera crew on board last week) and in GCC specification – lots of kit to play with and add to the ownership experience.
I think I’ve just explained it to much…I must be getting old. The simple pleasures of a loony ride and a loud exhaust are dissipating.
