With the help of our new friends at MCH Photo, crankandpiston selects its favourite images from the 2014 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
We’ve been scouting the internet again for awesome rally images, and crankandpiston’s new mates at MCH Photo have quite literally produced the goods with this stunning collection of images from the 2014 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
This year’s event – now synonymous with former Williams Formula 1 man (and six-time event winner) Jean-Louis Schlesser – was won for only the second time by a Russian, Vladimir Vasilyev taking the spoils along with co-driver Konstantin Zhiltsov ahead of Orlen Toyota Hilux runner Adam Malysz, along with co-driver Rafal Marton. Paulo Goncalves meanwhile took victory in the bike category aboard his HRC Honda 450 CRF ahead of seven-time winner Marc Coma on the Red Bull Rally KTM 450 Rally Replica. Whilst Vasilyev – who emulated countryman Leonid Novitskiy’s Abu Dhabi victory in 2010 – took victory with a 45m advantage in his pocket, the scrap for bike honours was split by just 20s at the chequered flag.
Now again, we realise the diehards amongst you will already know the results. And for those of you just getting caught up, here’s a couple of videos from the event that may help.
