Aston Martin uses inspiration and tech from its race car to create this limited edition road monster.
[Not a valid template]Aston Martin wasn’t exactly lacking performance in its Vantage range, but just to be sure it’s created this race-inspired but completely road legal Vantage GT3.
Just 100 will be made, with customers able to enjoy a new version of Aston’s 6-litre V12 with somewhere around 592bhp, packaged in a car that’s 100kg lighter than a standard V12 Vantage S. The tweaked engine has magnesium inlet manifolds with revised geometry, a magnesium torque tube and an exhaust system made from titanium.
In addition to all the restyled bits, the GT3 has some serious re-engineering under the skin, with a broader front and rear track and some super-sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sports on each corner.
Carbonfibre features heavily, both on the interior and on the aerodynamics package, which includes a hefty rear wing and jutting front splitter that aren’t just for show – they help push the new car towards the ground for improved cornering grip. Watch out for that splitter on speed bumps though. Other carbon bits include the bonnet, door casings, roof (optional), and if that’s still not enough weight-saving, you can opt for polycarbonate rear windows as well.
Inside, the centre stack is all carbonfibre, as are the sports seats. Other bits are slathered in Alcantara, courtesy of Q, Aston’s personalisation department.
Aston says the Vantage GT3 bridges the gap between its other road cars and its motorsport program. It’ll make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
