Aston Martin has often been accused of stagnating in recent years, mainly due to the minimal design changes that occur between models. But in 2015 it’s come out with guns blazing in its efforts to push some boundaries. First we had the outrageous Vulcan reveal, and now the company has announced that it’s staging its most ambitious and comprehensive works motorsport programme in its history.

This is, of course, excellent news for fans of the brand that like to see pretty cars driven hard around the world. Aston Martin Racing will enter a huge five-car team in the World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as two GT3 entries in the Nürburgring 24 Hours.

2015 marks the eleventh year that Aston Martin Racing has competed, and in the WEC it’s entering three Gulf-liveried Vantage GTEs in the GTE Pro Class, as well as two cars in the GTE Am class. AMR already has 19 race wins and three championships under its belt, and it’s aiming for more.

At the Nürburgring 24 Hours, where AMR has competed for the last three years, it’ll add a second Vantage GT3 to the top SP9 class.

The driver roster at AMR includes the likes of Darren Turner, Stefan Mücke, Mathias Lauda (son of Niki) and Rob Bell. The action starts next month, when the WEC season kicks off with the Six Hours of Silverstone in the UK on April 12.
