We’ve been enjoying the second year of national GT racing here in the UAE during 2010, but it’ll be the international big boys kicking off 2011 for the annual 24 Hours of Dubai.

A huge grid of 90 cars will pack into the Dubai Autodrome from January 13–15 with some big name racers behind the wheels of some eye-watering, ear-dribbling machines flown in from all over the world. The headlines in the run up to the race have been about the trio of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3s making their Middle Eastern debut.
The road-going version has proved a big at C&P, so we’re rather looking forward to seeing stripped out hardcore incarnations of the gullwing’d beastie attacking the track, especially with the likes of five-time DTM champion Bernd Schneider and Dutch GT4 champion Christiaan Frankenhout pushing the pedals.
Porsche fans will have 11 997 GT3 Cup cars to cheer on, piloted by yet more DTM racers such as Kurt Thiim and Roland Asch.
And for fans of Italian stallions, three Ferrari F430s have been registered, featuring American NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip.

Can’t wait, the Entry list is amazing in both the cars and drivers taking part.
I’ll be there with my camera’s trying to get some shots.
Good luck to the local boys!
