Porsche unveils its line-up for the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show
[Not a valid template]What better way for Porsche to celebrate its first World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship – and its first sports car title in more than 20 years – than an appearance by the 919 Hybrid show car at the Dubai International Motor Show.
Having made its debut in the series alongside Toyota and Audi last season, claiming its first victory at the season closing 6 Hours of São Paulo. The team would improve on this solitary win with a further five victories in 2015 – including the hallowed 24 Hours of Le Mans with Formula 1 Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg – to seal the 2015 WEC title at last weekend’s 6 Hours of Shanghai.
As well as a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, notable features of the 919 include a composite carbon fibre chassis, independent multi-link suspension, and a seven-speed sequential transmission, the Hybrid prototype having proven a test bed on-track for the road car division. Examples of technology transfer include mid-engine positioning, aerodynamics, turbocharging, PDK, regulated all-wheel drive and hybridization.
Other key models expected to make an appearance on the Porsche stand alongside the 919 Hybrid at this year’s Dubai International Motor Show include the new Porsche 911 Carrera and Cayenne S E-Hybrid.
