Global debut for the new RAM 1500 Rebel at the 2015 Dubai Motor Show

Anything that can blot out the sun usually grabs our attention at international motor shows, particularly if said behemoth is also making its global debut.
For Dodge at this year’s Dubai International Motor Show, that is the new Rebel, the latest in a seemingly ever-expanding line of 1500 RAM pick up trucks. This particular giant though brings what the company calls ‘a one-of-a-kind off-road design to the full-size truck segment’. So as well as being big – SERIOUSLY big – it could potentially be an off-road nuclear weapon.
Beneath the bonnet lies a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 – as you’ll also find in the Charger Hellcat – which produces 395bhp and 410lb ft of torque. The established TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission is incorporated into the drivetrain, as is rear anti-spin differential, which turns both rear wheels in tandem when increased torque is applied to increase traction off-road. Other significant performance modifications include exclusive air suspension, new Bilstein shocks, and an increased ride height: ground clearance now hurdles over 10 inches.
Aesthetically, at the front is a new blacked out grille with ‘RAM’ silver lettering – a step away from the company’s traditional ‘cross-hair’ design – new bumpers, two hooks front and rear, and a twin-snorkel sport hood, while at the back we find new “RAM” stamped tailgate and revised taillights. The eagle-eyed amongst you may also have spotted new 17in aluminium wheels beneath those 33in tyres.
