Mercedes has showcased the first ever convertible C-Class.
[Not a valid template]Mercedes-Benz has revealed the all-new C-Class cabriolet model at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The four-seater’s soft-top can be opened or stored in the boot in 20 seconds, at speeds of up to 50kph.
The model is the same size as its coupe sibling and features a choice of two diesel engines and six petrol units. A 168bhp unit for the C220d and a 201bhp variant for the C250d. The C180 petrol unit produces 154bhp. The C200, C250, C300 and the C400 rise in power, up to 328bhp. The top-of-the-range AMG C43 gets a 326bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol unit, with a top speed of 249kph. All variants can be mated with Mercedes’ nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The cabriolet adds (over the coupe) heat-reflecting leather, a switch to the centre console, which opens and closes the soft-top and Mercedes’ Airscarf heating technology to stop cabin draught. Suspension has also been lowered, over the coupe, by 15mm. Sport and Airmatic suspension are both available as an option. Models with the AMG Line specified will get larger alloy wheels, plus a distinctive bodykit. An Edition 1 model will also be available for a short time.
The model is set to go on sale in the summer and will be priced from $40,000.
