Lexus has revealed that it plans to showcase its new RC F GT concept at Long Beach, this weekend.
While it’s tempting to think this is Lexus‘ answer to BMW’s M4 GTS and the at-some-point-likely-to-arrive Mercedes-AMG C 63 Black, unfortunately this is just a concept. The new RC F Concept to be precise, and it’s due to make its first appearance at the 42nd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, California this weekend.
Positioned between a RC F production car and the full-bore RC F GT3 competing in this year’s IMSA SportsCar Championship, the new Concept features the same 5-litre V8 and eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic gearbox as the road-going model, and produces ‘over 460bhp’ and ‘more than 390lb ft’ of torque.
That’s not the bigs news though. That would be the kerb weight, which has been dropped by a massive 363kg thanks to CFRP body panels and polycarbonate windows. Alongside this, the suspension has been reinforced for durability and the vehicle’s software has also been revised to ‘expand [its] handling envelope’. Oh, and it’s got a beast of a rear wing, of course…
The model appearing at Long Beach is a further development of the RC F GT Concept that Justin Bell drove in the Time Attack class at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in June 2015. Speaking of which…
