Aston Martin has revealed a video showcasing its new limited edition GT8 Vantage.
[Not a valid template]We all know Aston Martin possesses a huge amount of motorsport DNA, and the British manufacturer is keen to show that off in its latest video of the new, limited edition Vantage GT8.
Inspired by Aston’s GTE race car, the 2016 Vantage GT8 is said to be the lightest and most powerful V8 Vantage yet having been built using carbon fibre body panels. The model features a track-tuned chassis and is powered by a revised 446PS1 version of Aston’s 4.7-litre V8, unlike the 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 found on both the new DB11 and the hyper exclusive Vulcan. Power in the GT8 is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed SportshiftTM II paddle-shift transmissions.
Speaking of power, at 440bhp, the GT8 packs 10bhp more than the V8 Vantage S, though 40bhp than the GTE racer with which it shares the same V8 cylinder block and aluminium chassis. Unsurprisingly, the GTE is also 265kg lighter than the GT8 at 1245kg, though be don’t be fooled into thinking the limited edition newboy is a porker. Both doors and the roof are fashioned from aluminium, the rear and side windows are polycarbonate, and there’s even a carbon fibre roof option available. With all lightweight options fitted, the GT8 is around 100kg lighter than a standard V8 Vantage. The lightweight theme also continues on the inside with carbon seats and manual runners, while the exterior look is completed with cutaway front wheel arches, five-spoke alloy wheels with Vantage GT12-esque centre-locking, plus front/rear corner splitters and a titanium exhaust if you also opt for the Aero Pack. Three optional ‘Halo‘ paint schemes are available: China Grey and Blue, Stratus White and Green or Stirling Green and Lime.
Production numbers of the Vantage GT8 will be limited to just 150 examples, with prices set to start from around $230,000.
