BMW has announced its new 2 Series model for 2017, complete with a new generation of TwinPower turbocharged four- and six-cylinder inline engines.

The new BMW 230i Coupe and BMW 230i Convertible are powered by the four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine, featuring increased horsepower and torque figures of 248bhp and 258lb-ft.

The M Performance model, along with the new BMW M240i Coupe and BMW M240i Convertible, feature the new inline six-cylinder petrol engine developing 335bhp (15bhp more than its predecessor). Torque has also been increased by 39lb-ft, to 369lb-ft. To put it into perspective, this new engine produces the same performance levels as the sought after 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe. It is also said to go from 0-100kph in 4.2 seconds (0.2 seconds quicker than its predecessor).

As an alternative to sending their power to the rear wheels, these new variants of M Performance vehicles can now also be ordered with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system.

The new model is set to be released for sale in the summer, with prices being announced closer to that time. Once we know more, we’ll let you know!
