In challenging dusty conditions at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the two Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeos competing in the Cytech UAE GT Championship finished the final race with a solid performance.

The technical 4.73km corkscrew layout of the Yas Marina Circuit pushed the driving talents of Humaid Al Masaood and David Field to the limits. Both drivers used the full potential of the Maserati’s torque and top speed performance around the track and finished in strong fourth and sixth places respectively.

Al Masaood was pretty happy with this weekend’s result. “It’s quite a tough track for the car, I was hoping that we would be racing on the Grand Prix circuit as I think I would have had a better chance there to do well. I was quite happy with my overall performance – my lap times were consistent, I’m just a little disappointed with a couple of small mistakes I made.”

David Field scored a valuable 3 points from this weekend’s final round, giving him a final sixth standing in the overall drivers championship for GTC class. “I think that considering the level of the competition and the quality of the drivers, I’m pretty happy with my sixth place. The most important thing is that all the driver have enjoyed it, everyone is safe and well and there weren’t too many bumps and scrapes along the way.”

Despite sitting out the last two races due to other racing commitments in Australia, 22-year old Robert Cregan finished the overall championship in second place.

Umberto Cini, Managing Director for Maserati Middle East & Africa, is extremely happy after the strong showing for the brand in its debut season racing in the UAE. “We’re a little disappointed that Robert couldn’t finish the season as he was on course to take the overall championship win. However, we had some great results over the past six months with all our drivers and have shown to the region that Maserati has a great standing when it comes to racing.”
