Saudi Arabia’s Prince Abdulaziz Al Faisal scored a dramatic victory in the penultimate round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East today a week after being crowned champion. After claiming his 6th pole position of the twelve round championship, Bahrain’s Sheikh Salman Bin Rashid Al Khalifa had looked certain to score his second win of the series before being passed by Prince Abdulaziz on the final turn before the finishing straight.
It was the eighth win of a dominant campaign for Prince Abdulaziz, while the consolation for Sheikh Salman was that he now has a firm grip on second place in the championship going into today’s final round at Reem International circuit outside Riyadh. Saudi’s Bandar Alireza finishes third ahead of Abu Dhabi’s Khaled Al Qubaisi whose fourth position was his best of the series, which is sponsored by Michelin and Mobil 1.
Faisal Binladen, gave Saudi its second title of the series, finishing fifth overall to maintain his 100 percent record in the mobile 1 trophy for rookies and senior amateur drivers.
