Jump on-board with DriveTribe’s Jethro Bovingdon as the lucky bastard takes Aston’s Martin’s WEC-winning Vantage GTE for an on-track run at Portimao, Portugal

As our recent video posts with the Ferrari FXX K, the 5G IndyCar, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante and the Bentley Continental GT3 at Bathurst should have more than demonstrated by now, there’s just something about an on-board video clip of a car being hurled about by the curlies in anger that really get the blood flowing. Is it the noise? Is it the dodgily mounted POV camera angle? Is it the occasional squeaks the driver can’t quite help himself from making?

Fortunately the latest on-board video from the DriveTribe team includes all three, as Jethro Bovingdon – fresh from his flat-out run through Eau Rouge in a Radical SR3 RSX – takes the Aston Martin Vantage that won last year’s World Endurance Championship GTE category for a lairy spin on-track in Portimao, Portugal. Good God, that V8 soundtrack is the absolute nuts!

Now, we could wax lyrically – and at considerable length – about the 480bhp and 500Nm (369lb ft) of torque being punched from the Aston’s 4.7-litre V8, the fight Aston Martin Racing took to the returning Ford GT, and the two victories that saw Aston Martin factory drivers Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorenson claim World Endurance Cup for GT Drivers honours last year, despite AF Corse Ferrari and Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK taking three wins apiece too. Instead, we’re going to suggest you click play several hundred times and take an extra hour off for lunch.
