Is another Le Mans victory on the cards?
“I would love to win Le Mans again obviously. It’s a race you just want to try and win many, many times. I still look at pictures from that day and remember just what an incredible, really magical day it was. If I have to choose one single race, to me the most prestigious is the 24Hrs of Le Mans, more than any Grand Prix.”
What are your career plans for the foreseeable future?
“It’s difficult because it’s a program that has to fit in with Ferrari. That is the priority, so I cannot race on just any calendar. Peugeot fitted very well, because I wasn’t doing many races and I could still go to all of the Grand Prix.
“I’ve raced Sports Protypes and GTs in America too. I’ve won at Sebring and finished second in petit Le Mans, and the fans are great. There’s a really good reception. But the circuits aren’t quite as safe as they are in Europe and the Middle East. And I’ve never raced on ovals. So I think that’s pulling me back a bit.
“But my intention is to come back to GT racing in 2013. I’ll see what teams are available and we’ll just have to wait and see.”
