Sporting tributes are already flooding in for Gilles Villeneuve as the 30th anniversary of his passing approaches. Four years ago this week though, motorsport also lost former-Lebanese Rally Champion Adel Metni.
Aboard ‘White Horse’, his long-standing rally-spec BMW M3, Adel took the Lebanese Group N Rally Championship in both ’91 and ’92, following that up with two titles in the Lebanese Hill Climb Championship in ’94 and ’95. A prominent competitor for more than two decades, Adel soon became a regular challenger for victory in Jordan’s annual Rumman Hill Climb, making his tenth consecutive appearance at 40-years-old in 2001. Following his retirement from competition, Adel continued his work with YASA (Youth Association for Social Awareness), striving for improvement to road and driving safety.
To mark the occasion of his passing, we invite you to watch his final Rumman appearance from 2001. And yes. He won >>>
