Vantage, DB11, DBS and DBX all to pick up useful updates, as shown off on new online configurator
Aston Martin has released information of a widespread 2022 model year update for all of its models from the DBX through to its sports car models. Consisting mostly of small detail changes like new wheel designs, new tech inclusions and small powertrain tweaks, Aston Martin has also simplified each of the model’s nomenclatures too, signalling the first of many big changes about to come to fruition under its new leadership.
This begins with Aston’s oldest model, the DB11, which has now been simplified into simple V8 and V12 derivatives, dropping the AMR model from the range. The rebooted V12 derivative returns to the same exterior specification as the V8, which offers a far wider spread of colour and trim options than the previous AMR. The DB11 V8 has also been tweaked under the skin, now featuring the same 527bhp variant of the AMG-sourced V8 as the Vantage F1 Edition.
Elsewhere in the range, the DBS has now lost its Superleggera prefix, while the DBX SUV has a few new choice options, including a larger set of forged 23-inch wheels and tyres, sports seats pinched from Aston’s sports models and an inductive charging pad for a smartphone. The standard Vantage has also picked up the F1 Edition’s 21-inch wheel option.
These light changes are expected to precede more substantial updates to Aston’s sports models, with Tobias Moers confirming that all its current sports car lineup will be significantly tweaked in the coming months, and also diversified into more variants in order to appeal to a wider buying public.
For now, Aston Martin’s 2022 model year changes have been revealed alongside an impressive and slightly addictive new online configurator.
