Aston Martin will produce NINE bespoke ‘wings’ to celebrate each of the World Endurance Championships rounds its Racing Vantage GTEs will enter in 2016
[Not a valid template]Aston and GT racing fans might look upon the 2015 World Endurance Championship season with some regret: not only did the British marque fall behind both Ferrari and eventual champions Porsche in the Manufacturers’ standings, but the five-strong Vantage GTE line-up amassed just four victories across two GT categories. Memories of Aston Martin Racing’s 1-2 finish in LMGTE Am just one year earlier must have seemed very distant indeed.
Not that Aston is hoping to repeat its lacklustre season in 2016, and after a largely positive pre-season test campaign, the British marque has now unveiled a bespoke selection of Aston Martin ‘wings’. Commissioned by Aston’s ‘Q’ personalisation service and produced for both road and track, each of the nine bespoke designs bears the flag of one of the nations the WEC will visit in 2016: for the 6 Hours of Silverstone season opener, the wings boast a Union Jack colour scheme, the tricolour adorning the wings for the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Of course this wouldn’t be an established British manufacturer if said emblems weren’t hand-built and the process of doing so wasn’t agonisingly lengthy. But you can find out more about that in the below video.
