The perfect lap of La Sarthe aboard the (virtual) Audi R18 e-tron quattro
Test days and ‘welcome back’ donuts are complete, with entrants for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans gearing up for qualifying and one of the most important single lap efforts of their careers at the most famous endurance event in the world.
As crankandpiston discovered last year, the 13.5km La Sarthe circuit is phenomenally complex – night or day – intercut as it is with high-speed straights, fast sweeping turns, and hard-braking points designed to test cars and drivers to their respective limits. ‘The perfect lap’ is something few could ever hope to achieve, even nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen.
To demonstrate the difficulties, the great Dane and Audi has compiled this combined footage from 30 Forza 5 players worldwide to show the virtual perfect lap at La Sarthe aboard the R18 e-tron Quattro.
Climb aboard…
