Thanks to our friends at Shakedown, crankandpiston presents some of its favourite shots from the 2014 Dakar Rally.
[Not a valid template]Only fate conspired to stop Stéphane Peterhansel securing his 12th overall victory on the Dakar Rally – and his sixth in the car category – after a fight back from 40 minutes down. Well, fate, team orders and Nani Roma, who came through to take his first car victory and his first since his win on the bikes in 2004. A clearly pissed-off Peterhansel, who slowed dramatically on the final stage to allow X-Raid MINI teammate Roma back into the lead, finished second. Bike honours were duly taken by Marc Coma (ESP), who staved off challenges from KTM teammate Jordi Viladoms (ESP) to win for the fifth time. Chilean Ignacio Casale meanwhile took gold in Quad class, Andrey Karginov (RUS) rounding out the bunch on the 2014 Dakar.
Of course, you probably know all that if you’ve followed the event, and for those that haven’t, you can get caught up with the highlights videos below. We figured everybody though would be interested in seeing some our favourite photos from this year’s Dakar Rally, courtesy of the Shakedown Team. Great work fellas.
