*NOW UPDATED WITH VIDEO* With the help of our old mate MCH Photo – and a new video from Monster Energy – crankandpiston.com chooses its favourite shots of the 2015 Monza Rally and its winner, MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi.
[Not a valid template]The 2015 MotoGP season may not have ended quite the way he’d hoped, but Valentino Rossi at least had plenty to celebrate at this year’s Monza Rally Show, at which he took his fourth victory. Alongside his victories in 2006, 2007 and 2012 – all with co-driver Carlo Cassina – puts The Doctor joint first on the event’s all-time winner’s list with three-time Le Mans winner Rinaldo Capello. Not bad for an event that boasts nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb, former Formula 1 race winner Robert Kubica and works WRC Hyundai driver Dani Sordo among others as former winners.
Indeed, it was a victory taken quite comfortably – more than 52 seconds – for Rossi in his Monster Energy-backed Ford Fiesta RS WRC over World Rally Championship winner Thierry Neuville in a Hyundai i20 WRC. Third place ultimately went to Roberto Brivio in his Fiesta RS WRC. Take a scan at this year’s entry list and you’ll notice Rossi also took victory over former Toro Rosso driver Vitantonio Liuzzi, Moto3 race winner Romano Fenati, and eight-time Motocross champion Tony Cairoli.
Anyway, enough context. Time for images and a video…
