Large Saloons, along with the mercurial SUV, are the main stay vehicle across the Middle East.  The likes of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus and Jaguar all do a roaring trade in the uber saloon segment and as you can imagine, that makes it a touch cut throat. Importers go toe to toe and watch each others every move, in what is verging on a price war to gain market share.

The two heavy boys in the shape of BMW and Mercedes rule the roost, with the S-Class and 7-Series commanding a more than sizeable market share.  No matter what Audi or Jaguar throw at the market they just don’t seem to get the continual traction the other guys get.  So what’s the big tipper when it comes to customer bums on seats?  Seemingly it’s down to brand recongintion, family tradition and a killer package… the choice is sometimes a touch obvious. Just look around at the plethora of Land Cruisers and Patrols to help you quickly realise that doesn’t really matter.

So the first to flinch with a new nip and tuck to keep the buyers rolling into the Middle Eastern showrooms is BMW.  With the S-Class just around the corner, the XJ beginning to gain traction with the addition of a much needed V6 and the sublime new Audi A8 already here, BMW needed a quick fettle to keep things fresh.

If you squint and look closely you will notice that BMW will add an LED strip above the headlights. In addition the front bumper has gone in for a minor nip and tuck, and the turn signals now sit on the side mirrors. Much needed in this region… Mind you, it’s not like turn signals actually help!

Out back, the designers have been at work on the rear bumper – subtle as it is, it certainly makes a difference. As time goes by prior to the official unveiling at the next uber Motorshow, we are sure there will be some more changes here and there to the spec list and interior.
