I’ve been a child of the Middle East for a number of years now having moved to Saudi as a baby and then dotted around the region thanks to my fathers career. Rather gladly though I got to spend what I would describe as the prime years in the UK falling in love with Girls, Cars and life through experiences that just don’t seem to exist here.
Now, if there is one thing I miss about Europe more than the old skool cars and killer culture underpinning them, it’s the long weekend car shows that I used to get to at every opportunity. I was and still am a proper v-dub head and during the summer season we had weekend after weekend of car shows and get togethers. The top dog of the calendar was Bug Jam held at Santa Pod in Middle England….Long hot summer days (light until 10pm don’t forget) mixed with live music, drag racing, car shows, copious amounts of fizzy drinks and anything else you care to mention.
Now – where are these events in the Middle East? We have a beautiful winter…stack loads of cool cars…a crowd of people that would come along…live bands that would come along and play?! It’s all here…hmmm now that gives me an idea!
I’m feeling inspired.
Phil
p.s That awesome slammed 1956 Oval window bug was my house mates car and we are sat in a VW Trekker watching Miss Bug Jam! Good times…
