Moving on further down the coastline (having thanked our lucky stars that we did not bog down in the sand), our convoy stumbles across the Ajman Port and Customs. Conversation immediately turned to the Batman Begins scene in the port.
With photographer Moe having established that radio mikes would make a useful addition to the crankandpiston digital team…
…we took a few minutes to snap the XTS alongside the appropriately coloured Sea Diamond X…
…and, for the sake of it, a yellow school bus: granted the Cadillac won’t fit 20+ school kids in the back seats, but the few that can fit in won’t be left wanting for comfort.
Both leg and headroom are remarkable in the XTS, and even more so in the back. I’ve noticed en-route that only by turning my neck almost all the way around can I see the back seats (this can lead to a debilitating neck crick though, so just a word to the wise).
Lumbar support in the seats is similarly impressive (it’s like driving in a big armchair), and the silver emblem across the seats is a nice touch too.
Perhaps what’s proven of most use so far though is the seat fans, which as you can expect on this crisp (read hot) Middle East morning have been ramped to their sub-zero best.
That plus the air conditioning, another option on the XTS which can be operated from both the centre console and the steering wheel. Just make sure you leave that on when you jump out of the car: as we found to our cost, leather seats can heat up pretty quickly!
