Well, across 200km, you could hardly expect me not to channel surf.
Fortunately the traffic Gods are on our side, and we pull up outside the Al Noor Mosque in Sharjah for our first picture opportunity. When they applied for planning permission back in the early 2000s, the construction magnates probably didn’t expect two Cadillac drivers to be the first in line at the door though.
There’s a couple of watchful glances from passing taxis as we park up and take our respective snaps (I’m in charge of the lens caps and asked not to touch anything else), and having already disappointed a few Sharjan-ites who at first mistook us for taxis, we beat a hasty retreat before causing any more problems.
Cruising past the Sharjah corniche, we our convoy starts a modified game of i-spy. As part of a new law passed in the emirate recently, motorists are obliged not to reverse into parking spaces, and espying which unlucky drivers may find a ticket on their windscreen kept the three of use entertained for a while.
After a quick double-take at what had parked up at the traffic lights in front of us…
…we decided a (part)-day at the beach in Ajman was in order, even though we were without our buckets and spades.
