It’s time to introduce to you another super skilled camera man, this time in the shape of Mishari Al-Reshaid, from Kuwait. Mishari is a super affable and easy going guy, with a killer eye for a great shot. As you will see!
Take it away Mr. ‘I got into photography when I got my first Digital SLR in the summer of 2007. It was an entry level Canon 400D with 10 megapixels. At first I took pictures of anything and everything, then slowly turned my lens towards cars’.
‘I have been in love with Automotive from a young age and I always liked getting car magazines, looking at the latest sports cars and newest designs, so it made some sense that I would be really into taking pictures of cars.’
‘I started with taking photos of my previous car (2005 Infiniti G35) and then my friends/cousins cars, until I was able to take photos of really beautiful exotic super cars. Now I use a Canon 5D Mark II exclusively for it’s high quality reliable 21 megapixel full frame sensor which is more than enough for this kind of work.’
‘I also use a variety of Canon L lenses like the 70-200 F2.8L IS, 16-35 F2.8L and 24-105 F4L. Working as an Art Teacher makes it difficult to be able to shoot cars during the week so most of my shoots are done on weekends. ‘
‘At some point I felt like there was something missing when I was out shooting cars, then I realized that it was motion shots, there are two different ways of taking motion shots for cars, there are tracking shots ( done from car to car ) and there are Rig shots, which use a specifically and usually custom made set up to attach the camera to the car, It pretty much goes without saying that this is always one of my favorite parts during a shoot.’
‘There are of course photographers that inspire me in this field ( Webb Bland, Easton Chang, Lee Brimble, Dean Smith, William Stern…) to name a few, I would like to be a Professional Automotive photographer one day and shoot for big brand names like Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz or Nissan, who knows what the future might bring, but let’s hope for a Lamborghini Aventador!’
Keep an eye out for recent work from Mishari on this website and from what we understand, the next issue of EVO Middle East magazine.
