There is a well known saying in the motorsport world. To make a bit of money, you need to start with a lot of it. Motorsport by its nature is damned expensive. From the cars themselves, to the spares, the team behind you, transportation and everything else you can think of. Not to mention one of the bigger expenses faced – Testing. Without that you are officially dead in the water. Now what if I told you that technology has moved so far that you can effectively test your race car to the Nth degree, from the comfort of your own home? Welcome to the CXC Motion-Pro 11 Simulator.
Following on from a brief discussion with AUH Motorsport CEO, Carl Rolaston, the offer to come and scope out their newest product was laid on the table (AUH Motorsport are now the official distributor for CXC Simulations in the Middle East). That’ll be an easy yes then. As a guy that ran out of the much required $$ to go racing, getting back behind the wheel, albeit in a virtual world was an itch I couldn’t fail to scratch.
As a quick background, CXC Simulations officially appeared into the public eye in 2007, founded by the current boss Chris Considine. It’s pitched as a high-tech, low-profile, engineering firm merrily revolutionising the personal simulation market equipment. Amazing to see what started of as a hobby, became so intensely good. Supported by his then clients, friends and family, it drove him to hit the world market with the killer toy that I’m sat in now.
What sets CXC Simulations products apart is the mind blowing quality. As I slide my frame into the bucket seat, plug in the 4 point harness and prepared for the off, I couldn’t quite believe the level of workmanship. The materials used reek of the real deal. Carbon and aluminium is everywhere in view.
Carl is quick to point out that whether you are buying an off-the-shelf production based unit or highly specific custom solution, CXC’s simulators are individually constructed, heavily tested, installed and then fully supported post purchase.
Eyeing up the details in isolation reveals the true details. Time to choose a weapon and see how she goes.
