CXC Motion-Pro 2 Sim. Might just be the best thing since sliced bread

My weapon of choice was to be a Ferrari F430 GT2 car (set-up by Matt Griffen) and for ease, we picked the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi as our ribbon of tarmac. Amazingly the butterflies where beginning to flutter and as the team at AUH ran me through the finer details from vehicle set-up to the importance of ensuring the car was ready for a full bore attack, I tried to settle myself.  Cheekily I ask for a target time… “a high 2.15” is the response from AUH man Ben Foster. Time to get the game face on then.

I was immediately thrown a curve ball. Full on motion. We are not talking a feeling of nausea here, but a true feeling of being on-board. From the initial engine fire up, to the mechanical chunter down the pitlane on the speed limiter, the feeling and experience felt through the seat of your pants is intense. Concentrate man.

The CXC has this freakish ability to put you under realistic strain physically and mentally. After my warm up lap getting the tires up to temp and then 3 sessions of hot laps, I was honestly feeling worn out. Fully in the zone and sweating. After struggling to truly grasp what was going on, I was beginning to get on it.

Feel and tactility was coming to me and a more crisp approach to driving was paying dividends. Chunks of time were being gained all over the track and I settled (unhappily) with a 2.15.48. I felt confident that there was another second + in there and with extra time and set-up I’d have got it. It is certainly the beginning of an addiction that honestly leads to massive real world benefit. Understanding the vehicle set-up changes and dynamic all in the comfort of your house is worth its weight in gold.

As a guy that came from the gaming world prior to hoping behind the wheel of a real race car, I’ll stand by this ever developing platform until the cows come home.  The CXC gives you everything you need and more. It’s that good and time can whistle by at a fair old rate.
