‘Project Judi’, the new British sports car from David Brown Automotive, will hit 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds thanks to a 510hp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 from Jaguar’s XKR.
Those of you who thought the classic British sports car was dead, buried deep, and confined to the glossy pages of history might want to pay close attention to David Brown Automotive. And start digging out your driving gloves and tweed jackets.
On 17 April at the Top Marques Show in Monaco, the new marque plans to unveil ‘Project Judi’, ‘a new take on the British sports car’. We’ve heard such claims before of course, but given the interest that the Felino CB7 and the W Motors Lykan Hypersport have garnered for national-pride motors, the new quintessentially British Judi – whose name we hope gets changed before the unveil – just might be a stone in Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Jaguar’s penny loafers.
Photo snippets are all we have to work with at present, though a strong Aston Martin DB5-esque headlight design and Jaguar XK tail-lip rear spoiler show the know-how from a patriotic team led by former chief designer at Land Rover Alan Mobberley is on the right track. As is performance. Stapled to the chassis of a the fiery Jaguar XKR, and equipped with the same 510hp 5.0-litre supercharged V8, Judi will whip her skirts with a 0-100kph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 248kph.
Wake up. The British are coming.
