Almost a year after PSA Peugeot Citroen announced the separation of DS as a standalone brand; DS Performance has been spawned.
Chief executive of DS Automobiles Yves Bonnefont said: “More than a simple research and development laboratory, DS Performance will stand as a true showcase of the technological expertise and avant-garde spirit of the DS brand.”
DS Performance will bring expertise to the DS Virgin Racing Team and its DSV-01 F1 racecar. The brand has already developed the entire powertrain, including electric motor, transmission, cooling, and rear suspension for the DSV-01.
A spokesperson for PSA Peugeot Citroen also told Autoexpress that it “wouldn’t be unreasonable” to expect the experience gained in the field of electric and hybrid to influence future road-going models.
Team principal of both Citroen’s World Rally Team and World Touring Car Championship teams has also been called upon to advise on the development of the DSV-01.
