On Saturday, an attempt was made to break the record for the most Ferraris on-track at any one time, the previous record set at 400 back in 2005. A record that was comprehensively blitzed! There were multiple F40s, several Enzos, and even a couple of 288 GTOs among the – wait for it – 964 Ferraris that hit the track.
The procession lap was lead by Ferrari Formula One driver Felipe Massa (who’s just been reconfirmed with the Scuderia for the 2013 season) in a black 458 Spider, and although there were plenty of 355s and 360s, they were joined by other rarities like the Zagato Ferrari 550 GTZ Barchetta.
Other classics that caught my eye included a 330 GTC and a 275 GTB4. For every car that took part, Ferrari donated $6 to ‘BEN‘, the automotive industry charity.
As well as the XX programme, crowds at the Silverstone circuit on Saturday were treated to the sight of Ferrari F1 machinery screaming down the Hangar Straight and through Copse corner, as well as the Ferrari Corse. This included a mix of GT3-spec 360s, 458s, a super rare F40LM, and even – bizarrely – a 456GT.
