There’s nothing overtly wrong with that. The brakes are a little sensitive but don’t warrant the adjective ‘snatchy’, pick-up is very impressive and feel for the front wheels (despite the weight on the nose) is likewise very good. But it just doesn’t feel quite as sporty as it should, even though response time is quicker than battery power alone (6.3 seconds to 100kph in Sport compared with 7.9 seconds in Stealth). Neither does the steering disappoint, but with Sport comes the sounds of a single ratio transmission, and though the engine hardly struggles, by mid-range the torque has been spent, and there’s very little aural encouragement to push the four-pot engine to its limits.

The overall idea of the Karma then from Fisker’s perspective was to create a visually stunning luxury coupe, which ran an environmentally-friendly powerplant and gave a bite of performance along the way. That it certainly does, and you’ll be hard pushed not to smile when throwing the EV-er vehicle at an apex. But there’s also limited battery life and impractical cabinspace in the back. Despite its perks, I’m left wondering if the Karma is the complete package. Yet.
