Ford makes a Mustang look like a space ship, because awesome.
[Not a valid template]Ford has unveiled a new special edition Mustang that celebrates NASA’s Apollo program, the highlight of which was landing a man on the moon in 1969.
The one-off Mustang will be sold at a charity auction this month in Wisconsin, USA to raise money for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s youth education programs.
The car is a 2015 Mustang GT, with a gloss white and black paint scheme that nods towards the rockets used to fire astronauts into space. Features include a carbonfibre front splitter, rear diffuser, rocker mouldings and accents, along with LED neon lighting under the car that symbolises atmospheric re-entry. Cool.
It’s not all stickers and flashy ligts though – the Apollo Edition Mustang has some poke to it too, thanks to a Ford Performance supercharger and shifter, sports suspension, six-piston Brembo brakes and 21-inch Forgiato alloys. The result is 627bhp and 540lb ft.
You could say the performance was astronomical. But then people would roll their eyes and silently hate you.
